I’ve been in hibernation the last couple of months on the blog front.  After a lovely time off with my darling children, reality hit and I had to return to the rat race.  Life has been consumed with treading water in stormy seas, the perfect analogy for a working mum, but things are starting to settle down now.

My challenge of trying to be sustainable, chosing organic and lightening my environmental footprint has somewhat relegated to “must do tomorrow” but the elephant in the room has had enough of being ignored!

Thankfully to coincide two things have renewed my enthusiasm.

  • The first is the book What’s Mine is Yours – The Rise of Collaborative Consumption by Rachel Botsman.  I’m a quarter of the way through and completely inspired.  I’ll share in another post the gist of the book.
  • The second is visiting again the fabulous Reverse Garbage centre in Marrickville (see my previous blog post about this great resource).  This time, my daughter and I went crazy digging in great vats of bins filled with scraps of fabric with a mission to find dusty pinks, shocking purples, muted yellows and all the hues that little girls love.  We ended up with a bag full to the brim all for $5.  So both landfills and my wallet were happy.  And the end result…. A very happy little girl and a renewed enthusiasm from my part..
